Welcome to the Department of Geological Sciences

The UI Geology Department consists of 11 active faculty, support personnel, and most importantly over 100 enthusiastic and talented undergraduate and graduate students.

Because of the university's size, location in the Rocky Mountain west, and opportunities to work personally with internationally recognized faculty, our students are getting private-college service at the state's flagship institution.

Our graduates have excellent employment opportunities in environmental geology, water resources, earth science education, minerals exploration, and the petroleum industry. If you are considering a science course, interested in pursuing a major, or contemplating graduate school, explore this web site for more information and feel free to come by and visit.
