UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM
The Department of Geological Sciences currently offers an undergraduate (B.S.) degree in Geology, with the option of choosing emphasis areas in general geology, hydrology, environmental geology, resource exploration, structural geology and tectonics, and geological education. A total of 128 credits are required for the degree.
For further information about undergraduate degree requirements, please refer to the University Catalog Information page.
As of the Spring 2009 semester, there are 67 undergraduate geology majors in the department. Class sizes are thus generally small enough to allow significant one-on-one interaction between faculty and students. With nearly 60 undergraduate geology courses from which to choose, and a degree program that provides students with a large degree of flexibility to tailor their degree to their own liking, an undergraduate degree in geology offers students a wealth of opportunity for preparing for a career in the geosciences.
